A Public Hearing on the following proposed Ordinance(s) will be held before the Finance Committee on Monday, September 9, 2024 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Council Chambers, City Hall, 869 Park Avenue, City Hall, Cranston, R.I. pursuant to Section 3.12 of the Charter, in accordance with the RI General Laws Chapter 45-24-53 for the purpose of considering the following items listed on the agenda.  Remote participation is also available by using the logon information provided below as posted on the City’s website at www.cranstonri.gov and Secretary of State’s website at www.sos.ri.gov.

PROPOSED ORDINANCE 8-24-04 RATIFYING SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH  THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES, LOCAL RI-153, CUSTODIAN UNIT

It is Ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1The Cranston School Committee having bargained collectively with the National Association of Government Employees (NAGE) Local RI-153,  which is the certified bargaining representative of Custodians Unit  as set forth in the attached contract and Addendum;

Section 2.   The School Committee in accordance with Section 11.02.1 of the Cranston Home Rule Charter posted and made public on August 7, 2024 a copy of the proposed contract at least 72 hours notice prior to the public hearing on August 14, 2024 at which time the School Committee voted to approve the attached agreement.

Section 3.   That the agreement in writing between the School Committee and the National Association of Government Employees, RI Local-153, copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof,  is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved by the City Council

Section 4.   Any additional agreements, letters of understanding, contract addendums or modifications during the life of this collective bargaining agreement between the parties must be ratified by the City Council and comply with Charter sec. 11.02.1

Section 5.  This Ordinance shall take effect upon its final adoption

PROPOSED ORDINANCE 8-24-05 RATIFYING SCHOOL COMMITTEE’S COLLECTIVE BARGAINING AGREEMENT WITH Rhode Island Laborers District Council 1322, Tradespeople/Mechanic Unit

It is Ordained by the City Council of the City of Cranston as follows:

Section 1The Cranston School Committee having bargained collectively with the  Rhode Island Laborers District Council 1322 , which is the certified bargaining representative of Tradespeople/Mechanic Unit  as set forth in the attached contract and Addendum;

Section 2.  , The School Committee in accordance with Section 11.02.1 of the Cranston Home Rule Charter posted and made public on August 7, 2024 a copy of the proposed contract at least 72 hours notice prior to the public hearing on August 14, 2024 at which time the School Committee voted to approve the attached agreement.

Section 3 That the agreement in writing between the School Committee and the, Rhode Island  Laborers District Council 1322  copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof,  is hereby ratified, confirmed and approved by the City Council

Section 4.   Any additional agreements, letters of understanding, contract addendums or modifications during the life of this collective bargaining agreement between the parties must be ratified by the City Council and comply with Charter sec. 11.02.1
