MAKING A SALE: Joan Rebello, a friend and volunteer for Defenders of Animals, sold tickets for the 50-50 raffle throughout the afternoon. The Whitakers, Fatima and Peter, were happy to buy tickets from her during the bowling event this past Sunday.

On Sunday, Feb. 16, Defenders of Animals held one of its largest Bowling for Animals events to date at Town Hall Lanes in Johnston. More than 105 participants raised approximately $2,170 to support the all-volunteer organization’s work. “The success of our bowling events is due to the cooperation with Town Hall Lanes staff and the combination of individuals and groups that appreciate the opportunity to help Rhode Island animals out, since all profits go into direct services,” said Dennis Tabella, director of Defenders of Animals.
