Comedy for a cause

The Rotary Club of North Providence presented a check for $2,285 to the Friedrich’s Ataxia Research Association (FARA) during its meeting at Rhode Island College on Tuesday night.

The club held a comedy night fundraiser at the Knights of Columbus on 1675 Douglas Ave. in North Providence on March 8, featuring comics John Perrotta and Doreen Collins. Rotary Chair Bill Beatini (far left) delivered the check to the DiIorio family.

Johnston’s Matt DiIorio (second from left) has lived with FA since 1994, and he is one of the namesakes of the Race for Matt and Grace. The race itself is entering its 10th year, but RMG holds several fundraisers throughout the year and partnered with the rotary for its comedy night. Beatini is a member of the RMG board.

Also pictured, from left to right, are Jack DiIorio, Sallyann DiIorio, Alex Fielding, Marissa Crawley and RMG co-chair Michael Crawley.
