Parishioners dig in at Our Lady of Grace Mother Day’s Breakfast

“Another great job, Father,” Steve Jenkins told the Rev. Peter J. Gower as he and his wife, Elaine, were leaving Fioretti Hall Sunday morning. “The food was good, as usual!”

Statements like that were commonplace Sunday morning, as upwards of 100 Our Lady of Grace parishioners enjoyed yet another of the food-filled events that the Roman Catholic parish on George Waterman Road has become famous for during Gower’s tenure as pastor.

“All were invited to bring their family to enjoy a hearty, home-cooked breakfast with members of our parish family,” Gower said while talking about the special Mother’s Day Breakfast.

As Gower told Ben and Velma Zanni, who brought many of their family members, including grandchildren, to Sunday’s breakfast: “It was a wonderful way for all of us to celebrate Mother’s Day.”

Unlike some food-oriented events at Our Lady of Grace, Sunday’s breakfast was quite simple in terms of the menu.

With Joe Quartino and Mike Mancini working the kitchen, and guys like Mike Lombardi doing double duty, many people told Gower they really liked the “simple menu” that consisted of scrambled eggs, sausage, home fries, English muffins and French toast with maple syrup.

Mike Lombardi and Mary Mancini, who both wear many hats at Our Lady of Grace, wore smiles as they served each and every person that made their made their way through the buffet line.
