The Johnston football team dropped a heartbreaker in its league opener last week, falling to Classical 38-36 in overtime.

Classical jumped ahead to an 18-6 lead at halftime, but the Panthers would score 16 points in the third quarter to narrow the Classical lead. Johnston would add another score in the fourth to force overtime. Both clubs scored in the extra quarter, but Classical would convert on a 2-point PAT to edge the Panthers.

Thomas Zednek led the way for the Panthers, hauling in three touchdowns from quarterback Hunter Remington. Remington also connected with Joey Acciardo for another score, while Remington rushed for a touchdown of his own.
