Library event celebrates 50 years of 'Music from Big Pink'

Starting as a backing band for Ronnie Hawkins and Bob Dylan on his contentious 1966 tour, The Band worked with Dylan on “The Basement Tapes” before stepping out on their own. “Music from Big Pink” is the watershed first album that opened the door for roots rock and propelled rock luminaries such as Eric Clapton and Pink Floyd down new musical paths. Join Steve Starger for a celebration of 50 years of “Music from Big Pink” at Warwick Public Library on Tuesday, May 8 at 7 p.m. Hear how the album was made, listen to the entire recording, and talk about what the music says to you. For more information, call 739-5440, x9758. The library is located at 600 Sandy Lane, Warwick. This event is free and open to all.
