Johnston Police promote five officers

Richard J. Varin is the Johnston Police Department’s newest patrolman. He is a retired lieutenant of the North Providence Police Department where he served for 20 years. He is joined at the ceremony by his father Amos (retired Providence PD), mother Leota and sister Andrea.

Seth Crosby went from the rank of sergeant to lieutenant. His wife Kelly, son Casen and daughter Layla all attended the event.

Dana Gousie is the JPD’s new sergeant. He was promoted from patrolman during a ceremony at the Johnston Municipal Courthouse. The former patrolman is joined by his stepfather Tim, father-in-law Jeff, mother-in-law Janet, wife Sara, son Jeffrey and mother Linda.

Joseph Razza is the Johnston Police Department’s newest Captain. He was promoted from the rank of lieutenant and is joined by his sister Karen, mother Joan and wife Mandi.

In keeping with tradition, the Johnston Police Department upheld its pledge “working together-making a difference” Friday morning and promoted five officers to new ranks.

The ceremony, which was presided over by Mayor Joseph Polisena, Chief Richard S. Tamburini and Deputy Chief David DeCesare, included the retirement of Det. Major Michael A. Colucci after a distinguished 25-year career.
