JHS Winter Ball, fundraiser planned

Posted

The high-energy Johnston High School Student Council this week announced two events, one of which will carry on an ageless tradition on Cherry Hill and another that could produce some valuable revenue for future plans.

First is the annual Winter Ball, which Vice President Emily Raposo announced would take place on Thursday evening, Dec. 21 at the famed Crowne Plaza Hotel in Warwick beginning at 6:30 p.m.

What promises to be a night of fun and fellowship will begin with a photo session at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom, where the traditional Winter Ball has been held for years, is expected to be transformed in a special setting, replete with an array of colors of red and gold with poinsettias as a prominent them.

Raposo said the always fun-filled photo session will also feature a cheese and cracker platter and dinner is expected to be served at 8 p.m.

“We are looking forward to a night of fun,” Raposo offered. “This [Winter Ball] is always a special time.”

While single tickets are priced at $55, a couple’s ducat will cost $105. Raposo said tickets went on sale Tuesday and will continue to be sold through next Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Fund-raiser at Chelo’s Smithfield

The JHS Student Council will hold its second annual Restaurant Fundraiser next Tuesday, Dec. 5 at Chelo’s Restaurant that’s located in the Smithfield Commons off Route 44 from 11 a.m. to closing.

Chelo’s will donate 20 percent of each guests check from those patrons who hand in a voucher and contribute to the Student Council at JHS. For more details, people interested in helping support the Student Council should contact Faculty Advisor Greg Russo at grusso@johnstonschools.org.
