Ferri chorus and band set the Christmas tone for Barnes students

The students at Sarah Dyer Barnes were put in the Christmas spirit last Friday when the Ferri Middle School chorus and band visited the school for a songs of the season sing-along. Held in two sessions to accommodate all of the school’s children, the half-hour-long singing event featured the talents of not only the chorus but the elementary school students as well. After serenading the students with songs such as “There is Peace” under the direction of music teacher Thomas Conlon, the middle schoolers invited the elementary school students to join in and sing Christmas classics like “Here Comes Santa Claus.” Barnes Principal Jill Souza told the students that music is a fantastic way for people to connect to the community and world around them and that songs like the ones the students sang continue long held and important traditions.
