ATI members honor life changed by drunk driver

Posted

On March 26, 2003 Tori Lynn Andreozzi sustained life alternating paralysis after being struck by a drunk driver while walking home from the school bus. On April 12, 2018 Johnston High School’s Above the Influence group honored Tori at Mothers Against Drunk Driving Rhode Island’s annual Mocktail Competition held at Amica insurance in Lincoln. Students worked diligently on their display honoring Tori’s pre-crash years as a decorated martial artist and highlighting her newfound passion: seated ballroom dance. With 14 schools participating statewide and many victims being honored, Johnston placed first, tying with neighboring Smithfield High School. Overall it was a wonderful evening that highlighted the dangers of impaired driving and the importance of underage drinking prevention. Students have taken the pledge to #ProtectUrFuture noting Tori’s mother, Cathy’s quote, “Life as you know it can change in a moment.” (Submitted photos)
