Yesterday afternoon, the Johnston Senior Center paid tribute to 80 people who Executive Director Tony Zompa called “our volunteer angels.”
“Without these angels, we couldn’t operate the senior center,” he said.
Tuesday volunteers who perform countless duties at the center were treated to a buffet dinner catered by Jeanne Cunha of Jeanne’s Catering in Cranston. Robert Black, a noted entertainer who was born in Providence and now lives in North Providence, provided entertainment for the event.
JSC officials also organized and conducted a raffle, with prizes going to 10 people.
