Back by popular demand, international recording and performing artist and native Rhode Islander Ida Zecco returns to Ocean State Theatre with her new one-woman show filled with comedy, music and inappropriate banter. “Thanks for the Mammaries!” will be presented for one show only on Saturday, September 17 at 7:30 p.m.

With her comedic timing, soaring vocals and dynamic acting, this performance is storytelling at its best. It is an evening of laughter, joy and gratitude of a life well lived – the good, the bad and the beautiful. Prepare for an entertaining ride. Bring your fun bags.

Described as a “gourmet meal in a world of fast food,” Ida Zecco is a one-woman performance artist who combines music, theatre and stand-up comedy, which entertains, enlightens and inspires. Her unique storytelling offers down-home humor with heart-felt narrative. “Thanks for the Mammaries!,” which contains adult content and situational humor, will appeal to discerning, mature audiences.

Zecco has performed in theaters all over the world. She earned her Bachelor of Music in voice/cello at the Mozarteum University, Salzburg, Austria, and completed a Masters in Music Therapy at the Orff Institute. She later acquired a Masters in Fine Arts in acting and directing at the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. Ida has studied at the Actor's Studio, NYU and with Uta Hagen at HB Studio in New York City.

A professional actress and member of Actors’ Equity Association (AEA), Boston audiences will recognize her from her roles as Barbara DeMarco, Mrs. Shubert, and Sgt. Mikey Thomas in “Shear Madness” at the Charles Playhouse. Other local performance venues include Jordan Hall, Regattabar, Scullers Jazz Club, Stoneham Theatre, Providence Performing Arts Center, Columbus Theatre, and in NYC: Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, Danny’s Skylight Room, The Duplex Cabaret Theatre, Town Hall and numerous stages and opera houses throughout the world, particularly in Europe and Asia.

Ms. Zecco will be accompanied by musical director Jim Rice of New York, who is an accomplished and diverse music director, arranger and pianist of many styles. Jim has performed in hundreds of theaters and concert halls throughout Europe and in every state except Hawaii. Abroad, Jim has been the musical conductor for the European-Broadway tour of Ken Hill's “Phantom of the Opera,” as well as pianist for the Broadway production of “Grease” in Zurich. He has also toured nationally with “Man of La Mancha” and “Camelot.

The proceeds from Ms. Zecco’s appearance will benefit Ocean State Theatre Company’s Live Music Initiative. Although many theatres across the country have replaced their musicians with recordings in order to cut costs, OSTC firmly believes that live musicians enhance the audience’s experience, when attending a musical production. Ocean State Theatre Company established its Live Music Initiative in 2008 in order to support the $80,000 annual cost of continuing the tradition of professional musicians playing live during all musical theatre performances. Proceeds from the performance will benefit the initiative.
