The Commemoration of the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony In Rhode Island, was designation at the award-winning JAYCEE Arboretum & Senator Roch Riverwalk inside RIVERPOINT COMMUNITY PARK along the West Bay Greenway.

The Rhode Island JAYCEES along with the Members of area Veterans’ Council, Scouts & Dedicated Volunteers, humbly hosted and conducted a modest remembrance Ceremony in late afternoon, marking the sixteenth (16th) anniversary of those lost lives, survivors and our local heroes in the tragic events of September 11, 2001.

Upon the Presentation of the Colors with the Invocation given by Rev. Douglas Tourgee, Pastor of Riverpoint Advent Christian Church, the Pledge of Allegiance was offered by RI JAYCEE Alumni Member, Ron Holloway.

Retired National Guard Brigadier General Charles E. Petrarca was keynote speaker and was introduced by Robert Schierschmid, President of the local Veterans Council; noted instrumentalist and songwriter, Bob Fleury offered patriotic renditions with flag etiquette via Troop 31 Crompton and Cub Pack 13.

RI JAYCEE Alumni Foundation Ex. Director Jack Lancellotta was MC and welcomed his colleague from the RI JCI Senate, Chairman Herb Jeschke, who read a personal message from RI Atty. General Peter Kilmartin reflecting upon his then-career as a Pawtucket Police Officer on that infamous day of 2001.

Although local fire personnel were called upon to rush to a blaze just before the five times bell signatory ring, buglers rang out with a military-style taps before retiring the colors by the all-scout procession.

Area Town government leaders were present for the entire ceremony.
