Speaker Nicholas Mattiello is a Democrat. You'll notice I didn't say "tax-and-spend Democrat".

Since taking office he has reduced corporate taxes to the lowest rate in the Northeast, reduced estate taxes (by increasing the exemption), eliminated the income tax for many Social Security recipients, eliminated the sales tax on utility bills for businesses, and lowered the minimum for corporate taxes.

Now, he's introducing plans to provide tax relief for retirees and cut the state beach fees in half, while, at the same time freezing the tuition costs for our state colleges.

In 1060, President John F. Kennedy introduced the "Income Tax reduction Act". He was a Democrat too, and also not a "tax-and-spend" Democrat.
