Elizabeth A. (Safford) Torcq, 79, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Gontran “Gunny” O. Torcq. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Martha Brown.

Betty worked for Dave’s Market for many years prior to her retirement. She loved spending time with her family at cookouts and especially the holidays. She enjoyed the casino, had a love for shopping and browsing thrift shops for unique little treasures. She was a long-time member of Warwick Tri-City Elks # 14 and a member of the Oakland Beach Volunteer Fire Club Woman’s Auxiliary.

Betty had a generous heart and a contagious smile; she will be missed by those that knew her.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Denise Hunold and her husband Robert, her loving grandchildren, Crystal O’Dowd, Michelle Pelland, Alicia Johnson, and Matthew Johnson, her great grandchildren Steven, Arianna, Savannah, Caleb, Ella, Brayden, and Violet. She was the father of the late Rachel M. Johnson-Kilday and Jason G. Torcq. She was the sister of Martha Black, Jack Safford, and the late Frances Carson, Ruth, and Charles Safford. She was the aunt of many nieces and nephews.

It was Betty’s wish that her funeral service and burial be private.
