Donna the Buffalo host the Labor Day weekend Rhythm & Roots Festival in Charlestown.
Warwick’s Gamm Theatre opened their season with an engulfing, entertaining “An Enemy of the People,” directed by Tony Estrella. Richard Donnelly was outstanding as Dr. Thomas Stockmann, as was Jim O’Brien as his brother, the Mayor.
“Ain’t Misbehavin’,” the Fats Waller musical, was at Trinity Rep.
“The Producers” was at PPAC.
“Wimbledon” starred Kirsten Dunst and Paul Bettany. McEnroe and Evert make appearances as the announcers. Our favorite line was “Love means nothing in tennis.”
“Shackleton’s Antarctic Adventure” proved to be an exciting and incredible survival story.
“National Lampoon’s Gold Diggers” was the worst movie of the year.

The Annual Heritage Festival was on the lawn of the State House.
Academy Players presented “The Importance of Being Earnest,” produced by Tony Annicone.
The Crow’s Nest had stuffed shells and salad for $3.50.
Kipling’s on Post Road had scallops or chicken for $5.95. The Meadowbrook Restaurant on Warwick Avenue celebrated their 6th anniversary with a 99 cent breakfast.
The R.I. Feminist Theatre presented “Internal Injury,” directed by Judith Swift.
Judy Collins gave a concert at PPAC. Tickets were $12.50 and $14.50.
City Nights Dinner Theatre presented “Cabaret,” directed by Ernest J. Medeiros and starring Larry Calabro.
