Dorothea K. Rice 99, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2024. She was the wife of the late William B. Rice; they had been married for 47 years prior to his passing. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Julia (Donahue) Kelley.
Dorothea graduated from St. Xaviers Academy class of 42, and was a member of the Alumni Association, she graduated from RI College of Education class of 46. She was 1st grade teacher at Blessed Sacrament School for many years retiring in 1987.
Dorothea was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, St. Benedict’s Church, and St. Kevin’s Church.
Dorothea is survived by her loving children, William B. Rice, Elaine Rice and her husband Richard Milewski, also survived by her grandsons William and Troy Rice. She was the sister of the late Agnes Graham, Marion Collins, Madelyn McCormick, and William Kelley.
The family would like to thank the staff at Hospice VNA of Care New England, and the staff at Sunny View Nursing for their care and compassion.
Relatives and friends are invited to a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday July 26, 2024, at 10 a.m. at St. Kevin’s Church, 333 Sandy Lane, Warwick. The burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the church.
