The Cranston League for Cranston’s Future (CLCF) has announced the 2024 recipients of the Leo J. Castiglioni, Jr. Awards. The $1,000 awards are granted to graduating high school seniors from Cranston who participated in both CLCF and high school sports programs, displayed leadership abilities and volunteered in support of community organizations. The awards are dedicated to Leo Castiglioni who founded CLCF in 1953 and was the organization’s first president.

This year’s recipients are Larry Yin from Cranston High School East; Peter Vachon, Francesca Coppa, Christopher Harvey and Michael Harvey from Cranston High School West, and Benjamin Tilton from Bishop Hendricken High School. CLCF President Frank Notarianni presented awards at the Cranston West Honors Night on May 21st and board member Rick MacDonald presented awards at the Cranston East Honors Convocation on May 16th and the Bishop Hendricken Honors Convocation on May 22nd.

CLCF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that relies on registration fees, fundraising activities, donations, sponsorships and gym rentals to manage 15 different youth sports and activities year-round. The 13 members of the Board of Directors and most sports chairpersons and coaches are unpaid volunteers. The on-line Castiglioni Scholarship application for the high school class of 2025 will be available on January 1, 2025 at www.clcfsports.org with an application deadline of March 31, 2025.
