Briarcliffe Manor, which is located on 30 acres of picturesque wooded land in Johnston, is now known as more than a five-star, award-winning skilled nursing and rehabilitation center.
The Manor, which is part of the ever-expanding Briarcliffe Campus located off 49 Old Pocasset Road, is now ranked as among the top four nursing homes in Rhode Island out of a total of 84, according to U.S. News & World Report. It also received “high-performing” status for both short- and long-term care.
Moreover, U.S. News & World Report issued a 5/5 overall score for Briarcliffe Manor from its evaluation of over 15,000 nursing homes nationwide.
When the news of Briarcliffe’s newest honor spread throughout the Manor and campus, caregivers were ecstatic to learn their building and three other facilities now rank among the best anywhere in Rhode Island.
There was jubilation all across the Briarcliffe Campus, starting with CEO and President Akshay Talwar, Vice President of Operations Kyle Naylor and Director of Nursing Services Jonna Matos.
“Our caregivers have lots of spirit and are compassionate and caring,” Talwar said with a smile. “This award is a testament to the fine work that each and every one of them performs here every day. The credit for this award goes to our caregivers, all of them.”
Naylor then expanded upon the rating while noting: “In the U.S. News & World Report rankings, short-term ratings delve into patient outcomes along with care practices and staffing levels. Long-term ratings – which are new this year – look at resident outcomes along with other measures including the rate of substantiated complaints, staffing levels and the use of anti-anxiety and other psychiatric drugs.”
He further explained that overall scores were calculated by incorporating each nursing home’s short-term rehabilitation rating with its long-term care rating rather than relying on ratings by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services, as the report has done in previous years.
Matos added: “I am very proud of each member of the Briarcliffe family for the excellent and loving care that they provide.”
In addition to Briarcliffe Manor, the healthcare campus also includes two memory care assisted living residences, namely Briarcliffe Gardens – a new-concept memory care assisted living residence – and The Cottages at Briarcliffe. Another assisted living center is slated to open in spring of 2021.
