Tri-Town Community Action Agency this week announced the appointment of Dr. Matt Malek to medical director for the organization’s health centers in Johnston and North Providence, and Renee Bromley to the position of health center director.

“Both Matt and Renee are distinguished medical professionals with extensive background in primary care and integrated health programs,” President and CEO Joseph DeSantis said. “Their professionalism and leadership will be integral to Tri-Town Health Centers’ continued growth in 2016 and beyond.”

Malek, a member of the Tri-Town staff since July 2014, earned a doctorate in medicine from the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2011.

In 2012 and 2014, Malek traveled to Lesotho in Africa to practice medicine and obstetrics through the Lesotho-Boston Health Alliance. He has made presentations to conferences in Boston, Mass., New Haven, Conn., Rochester, N.Y., and Houston, Tex., and is a member of the Pisacano Leadership Foundation in Lexington, Ken.

As medical director, Malek will oversee the management of the medical practice, with a focus on coordinating care for patients among Tri-Town’s medical team, which includes behavioral health, dental, substance abuse treatment, and prenatal/newborn care professionals.

Bromley joined the Tri-Town staff on May 9, and will be responsible for the daily operations and management of the health centers, including compliance, patient scheduling, billing and accounts, vendor relations, and staff assignments.

Most recently, Bromley worked as practice administrator and manager for Coastal Hillside Family Medicine, formerly Hillside Avenue Family & Community Medicine, since 2005. Her prior experience includes administrative work at Coastal Bone & Joint Specialists in Wakefield, The Neurology Foundation in Providence, and Rhode Island Rehabilitation in Cranston.

“Having medical experts of their caliber means that we can deliver comprehensive care to new and existing patients,” DeSantis said. “It also means that we can ensure the highest level of coordination within our integrated healthcare program, while knitting together all of Tri-Town’s medical resources with the community and healthcare relationships that Renee and Matt are bringing with them. We are opening new doors for our patients.”

Tri-Town Health Centers, located at 1126 Hartford Ave., Johnston, and 33 Maple Ave., North Providence, are currently accepting new patients. All insurance plans accepted, and sliding fee scale is available for those who are uninsured or under-insured.
