Anna Casador-Saccoccio crowned 2021 Mrs. Rhode Island American Woman of Service

Cranston resident Anna Casador-Saccoccio was crowned International Mrs. American Woman of service 2021 in July in Portland Maine.

In May, she was named Mrs. Rhode Island American Woman of Service, which allowed her to compete for an international title within the American Women of Service Organization. She competed for two days across several events with other contestants to earn the yearlong title and will spend her year promoting her platform, “Empowering Resiliency in Community,” focusing on community service.

During the competition weekend, Anna received many awards for her community service. She received the Volunteer of the Year award for her work through her foundation, the Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation, which she started in memory of her son, Eric. She received the People’s Choice Award, which helps raise funds for the pageant platform Crown Cares; the Bears Biscuits Award for her work with animal rescue and adoption; and her second Presidential Gold Service Award.

“I am honored and humbled to be named the 2021 International Mrs. American Woman of Service,” she said. “I want to continue to build a thriving community where people have support, no matter the need. After losing my Eric, becoming an active member of the community again and promoting helping others in his memory, has truly been a labor of love for me and a way to help heal my heart. When our help makes someone smile, I know my Eric is smiling, too.”

During Optional competitions, she was Top 3 finisher in Fitness & Lifestyle Talent for her on-stage performance of a narrative poem she wrote, and for her non-performance talent video about using her baking and cooking talents to help support local charities. The final stages of competition included “Personal Interview,” “Out on the Town Fashion Modeling” and, of course, “Evening Gown.”

Over the course of the next year, Anna will use her time as International Mrs. American Woman of Service to continue her work through her foundation, supporting and those less fortunate in the community with food, clothing and other assistance.

“Where there is a need, I try to fill it,” she said.

Anna was born in Providence and lived in the U.S. Virgin Islands for a few years. She was the proud owner of Anna’s Café, serving all kinds of Portuguese foods and desserts.

After moving back to Rhode Island, she is now vice president of Thermal Energy Inc. and the founder and president of the Eric Medeiros Memorial Foundation (angeleric.org).

Anna was the first to hold the Elite National American Women of Service title in 2017 and Classic National American Woman of Service in 2019. She has been selected as Mrs. Knightsville Rhode Island America the last four years and recently as 2020 Mrs. Rhode Island American, finishing in the top 15 at Mrs. America.

She currently resides in Cranston with her husband, Frank. She enjoys cooking, baking, traveling, camping, spending time with friends and family and also all her rescued pets.

American Women of Service is a community service-based pageant, founded in 2017. To learn more, visit americanwomenofservice.com.
