Roundup: West softball heating up

The Cranston West softball team is on a roll as the Division I playoffs loom as it rolled past both Cumberland and Coventry in recent games.

The Falcons beat the Oakers in a 15-3 thrashing on Sunday. Siena Nardelli led the way with a home run and four RBI at the plate, while Sofia Marella, Mia Crudale and Jenna Malloy all drove in two runs each.

Crudale got the win in the circle, allowing two earned runs and striking out eight batters.

West topped the Clippers 7-3 the previous game. Nardelli and Gianna Dispirito each had multi-RBI performances, while Crudale earned the win pitching seven innings and allowing no earned runs.


East 12, Rogers 2

The Bolts remained unbeaten and in first place in Division III with a win over Rogers. Nevaeh Fatorma led the Bolts with two runs batted in, while Lexi Montalban got the win in the circle, pitching four innings and allowing no earned runs and striking out four batters.


BOYS VOLLEYBALL

West 3, West Warwick 0

The Falcons got a much-needed bounce back win by sweeping the Wizards. Jordan Cunha and Christian Mak paced the West offense with nine kills each. Ashton Mak racked up 24 assists.


BOYS LACROSSE

Pilgrim 8, West 7

The Falcons dropped a heartbreaker to first-place Pilgrim in the regular season finale last week. Charlie Maguire and Jayden Bogle each scored two goals while Nolan Fortes, Justin Drohen and Paul DeBalsi each scored one each. Sam Naiefeh made 11 stops in goal for the Falcons.
