Next Tuesday thousands of people are expected to make their way to Rocky Point. It’s not because the amusement park has reopened as many would wish but for a first time the property will host Warwick’s National Night Out. Traditionally, it’s been held at Oakland Beach.

The event which goes from 3 to 9 p.m. and is hosted by the Police Department includes a variety of demonstrations from the K-9 unit, SWAT Team, and Warwick Fire Department.

Those in attendance will also have the opportunity to visit with the department’s compassion K-9 Charley and will have a chance to take photos with officers and various police vehicles.

In addition the department will have some vintage police cars on display and there will be food trucks and arts and craft vendors at the event along with other activities.

According to the Police Department Warwick’s National Night Out will be the only National Night Out fireworks display in the state beginning at 9 p.m.

Aside from the Police Department, the event is sponsored by We Be Jammin’, City of Warwick, Police Athletic League and Warwick Police Department Citizens Police Academy alumni.
