I woke up the next morning after seeing “Le Miserables” for the fifth time humming “In My Life.”
I couldn’t get the haunting songs out of my head. Every member of the huge cast at the Providence Performing Arts Center had a quality voice that is needed for this operatic production.
Nick Cartell leads the cast as Jean Valjean, the poor Frenchman whose life is plagued by Javet (Hayden Tee) for stealing a loaf of bread.
The production is dark with that wonderful pair of innkeepers who provide comic relief.
The sets are perfect, darkened and smoky to capture the perfect atmosphere.
This is one of the handful of Broadway plays that, if done well, is worth seeing over and over.
“Le Miz” is done very well. It doesn’t get any better.
