OBITUARY FOR IVY JUNE ALLEN (BOWSER) 1924-2022

Ivy June Allen (Bowser) entered into eternal rest on Friday, January 28, 2021. She was born June 9, 1924 to Edgar James and Ivy May (Greenwood) Bowser in Fairlawn, Pawtucket, Rhode Island and Providence Plantations. She lived in RI all her life. She married the late Harry Robert Allen on September 30, 1950 and lived in Providence with a son, daughter and niece for a short time before moving to Warwick in 1968. June and her husband Bob were devoted to their Baptist Religion and were active supporting members of the South Baptist Church before becoming active supporting members of the Calvary Baptist Church in 1967. She served as a Sunday School teacher, Sunday School Director and sang in the choir for most of her membership. She also served on many church committees and had a strong devotion to Christ and her church family. She was a gift to her family and friends and was always ready to provide a cheerful and positive means to her greatest attribute of understanding life’s challenges. June worked as a medical secretary for Dr. Peter Holzinger, an immigrant from Estonia, and worked at Training Thru Placement for 43 years. Her dedication was to a program that helped mentally disabled adults succeed in gainful employment. She was also the support to her supervisor, John “Jack” Capabianco. June is survived by her son Dennis Lee Allen, grandchildren Dr. Scott Allen, Cheryl Allen, Michele Allen Scalzo and husband Peter, Wendy Sylvia Scalzo and her husband Frank, Charles Lury, and step granddaughter Kathi Hotalen Flanagan and husband Michael; great grandchildren Jake Newberry, Matthew Scalzo, Christopher Scalzo, Katheryn Scalzo, Sydney Allen, Abigail Scalzo, Frank Scalzo Jr, Gabrielle Scalzo, and step great granddaughter’s Katelyn Flanagan and Riley Medeiros; great great grandchildren Aria Anthony, Adam Anthony, Mason Burgos and Mia Burgos; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded by her loving husband Harry Robert Allen, loving daughter Cynthia Allen Sylvia Lury, and her loving brother Edgar James Bowser Jr. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Barrett & Cotter Funeral Home, 1328 Warwick Avenue, Warwick RI. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, February 3, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. Interment service will follow at Pawtuxet Memorial Park, Warwick RI. In lieu of flowers, it was June’s wish that any memorial tributes be considered in the form of a charitable donation in her memory to Calvary Baptist Church, 747 Broad St, Providence RI 02907 Rest In Peace Ivy June Allen , into the arch’s of our creator.
