It is time to “fall” into autumn at

Atwood Florist

Posted

The great French philosopher Albert Camus once penned the words: “Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower”.  No words could better capture the glory of fall than these words, and nothing could define “fall” better than these words for longtime florist John Dick, the owner of Atwood Florist in Johnston.

Autumn is a season of vibrant color, from brilliant sunsets to leafy treetops to festive holiday floral arrangements. John Dick loves this season and can capture it through his unique and personal work ~ whether it is for an intimate, fall wedding, a fall collation or a fall gathering for any occasion!  Flowers bring joy and sunshine and happiness, no matter what occasion they mark.

Atwood Florist has been home to breath-taking and customized flower arrangements for nearly 30 years.  Over the course of those years, John has earned a reputation of dependability, originality, creativity and expediency.  He knows how to arrange flowers so that they come alive! John loves to use traditional flowers such as the ever-popular roses and mums, but he has also introduced his customers to new varieties.  His eye for color and proportion and shape make his arrangements both timeless and contemporary at the same time.  His primary job is to cater to his many customers, and to make his trademark arrangements perfect for any occasion.

Customers can call John with their specific wishes or can visit his florist shop on Atwood Avenue.  There they will find a wide assortment of playful and whimsical containers.  This season, there are ceramic pumpkins and acorns; there are tinted vases and rustic tabletop crates ~ and more!  When they are not filled with fresh flowers, some even make clever candy dishes! They are delightful vessels that hold all the love that flowers represent.

If you just want to bring an informal token of love, affection or thanks to someone in your life then why not pick up a “Love Bunch”?  Available for only $5.00, these small bouquets send a sweet message.

If you are looking for something a little more “long-lasting” than a floral arrangement, you will also find plenty of live plants (including the popular “dish gardens” and peace lilies) at the shop.

With autumn on the horizon, the Christmas holidays are not far behind.  Watch for further details regarding John’s “Second Annual Boxwood Centerpiece-making workshops.”  Using all the guidelines for social distancing, mask-wearing and sanitizing, these workshops begin after Thanksgiving!

Atwood Florist is located at 1041 Atwood Avenue and can be reached at 401-274-7300. Visit their website at www.atwoodflorist.com or “like” them on Facebook.  They are open Mon-Fri from 9:00-5:00pm, Saturday from 9:00-2:00pm. Same day delivery is guaranteed if you call by noon.

During these unusual times, when so many events that support local florists have been cancelled, John is quick to thank his loyal patrons for their continued support. It means everything to him.
