Having served with gratitude

To the Residents of Ward 6

It is with great sadness that I announce that I will not be running for re-election.  The last 30 years that I have served as your elected official on the City Council have been so rewarding to me because I love Ward 6 so much.  The stress of false allegations and political agitators has certainly not helped matters but the truth is, unfortunately, my husband and I have some health issues that cannot be ignored and it is time to put my family and myself first.

I want to thank all of the people in the Ward, friends and family who were always there for me, those who voted for me each and every time.  Your support does not go unnoticed.  I have met and become friends with so many all over the Ward, and it truly saddens me that I will not longer be there to help.

I have so many wonderful memories of happy times and hard work, laughter and tears and together WE accomplished so much over the last three decades to make Ward 6 a better place.  I could never have done it without all of you.  As we ride through the area, we can look back at all the improvements we have made: the boat ramp, the dog park and Danger Bridge, just to name a few of the visible sign of the good we have created.  Now, I look forward to focusing on my family and find new ways to enjoy this beautiful area, a place I have given my life to protecting and improving.  I do not regret any of it for one second.

With love and gratitude,

Donna Travis
