To the Editor,

As reported in the Beacon, it seems entirely appropriate that Oliver Perry, the 9th ranked student in Hendricken's 2024 graduating class, will attend the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. His namesake, U.S. Navy Commodore Oliver Hazard Perry, the hero of the Battle of Lake Erie who uttered the famous words, "We have met the enemy and they are ours," would surely be proud that young Oliver is entering a maritime service.

Congratulations to Oliver and to all high school graduates. Always remember the inimitable words of Dr. Seuss, "You have brains in your head. You have feet in your shoes. You can steer yourself in any direction you choose."
