Jordan Kent of Boy Scout Troop 7 Buttonwoods, who is working on his Eagle badge, will hold a pet supply drive for the benefit of the Providence Animal Rescue League April 16 at Saint Rose of Lima School in Warwick. Kent is looking for donations of pet supplies ranging from food, to leashes, pet beds, and everything in between.
Kent picked the drive for his community service project because of a prior connection with the organization. He had two pet chinchillas, of which he was assured were both male. This was not the case, however, as he soon found himself the owner of fourteen chinchillas. He and his family contacted PARL, that gendered all the chinchillas and took in all the male. Kent said that this offer was “a very helpful offer, as few shelters will take exotic or non-standard pets in.” He now has seven “definitely female” chinchillas and hopes to pay forward the help to an organization that helped him.
The supply drive will occur from 9 a.m. until noon on April 16, rain or shine, at the parking lot of Saint Rose of Lima school, on Main Avenue in Warwick. All pet supplies are welcome.
