It has been 30 years since Bishop Hendricken High School held its last Epoch. The 2022 edition with Channel 12 Chief Meteorologist and Hendricken graduate Tony Petrarca serving as master of ceremonies was bigger and grander than ever. After expenses, Epoch raised $270,000 which will go into a restricted account to help families how can’t afford tuition. The event featured the inaugural presentation of the school’s Distinguished Public Service Award Judge Frank Caprio for his years of dedication to the state. Medal of Honor Awards were presented to Gary E. Furtado, President and Chief Executive Officer at Navigant Credit Union and the late Brother Richard Grondin, C.F.C, the founder of Epoch. Br. Vincent McNally, C.F.C. and Br. James Devlin, C.F.C. accepted the award on Br. Grondin’s behalf. The evening held at the school was themed “An evening in Italy” featuring food stations hosted by Rhode Island restaurants. In addition, there were active and silent auctions. Petrarca opened the fundraising segment of the evening asking who would underwrite the $15,000 one-year for a student. In barely 10 seconds a paddle went up and that was followed by another. Auction items included the week-long use of a house on Nantucket, get away weekends and even a scooter. (Warwick Beacon photos)
