FAST FALL: Ex-Ward 6 Cranston City Councilman Matthew Reilly was arrested on drug charges on May 15, 2023, after police found him asleep behind the wheel. Last week, the AG’s Office announced the resigned councilor has been indicted on multiple child molestation counts. This image is a screenshot from the body-worn camera footage from the arresting officer during Reilly’s first arrest. Just weeks later, he was arrested again, on child molestation charges (that ultimately yielded last week’s Providence County Grand Jury indictments.

UPDATED The Cranston police officer ran to the suspects’ car. She opened the door and ordered a man and a woman out of the vehicle. Instead, they sped away, allegedly running over the officer's foot, and the officer fired at the vehicle. According to Johnston Police, investigators are seeking the public's help in locating Johnston 15-year-old Taya Scott, who has been missing since Wednesday, May 1, when she was last seen around 1 p.m. Police described her as 5’4″ tall, dark brown hair with red highlights, and wearing a gray hoodie and black sweatpants. “If you have any information on Taya's whereabouts, please contact (Johnston Police) Detective Rado at (401) 757-3123 or the Johnston Police Department at (401) 231-4210,” Johnston Police posted on their social media accounts. “Please share to spread the word and help bring Taya home safely.”
