A woman has died as a result of injuries she suffered in a Christmas Eve motor vehicle accident, Johnston Police Deputy Chief Joseph Razza confirmed Thursday morning.
Razza said the name of the woman – who was the sole occupant of her vehicle – was not yet being released pending notification of family. She died Wednesday morning after being hospitalized.
The accident occurred at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the area of Plainfield Pike and Peck Hill Road, Razza said. The occupants of the second vehicle – an operator and single passenger – suffered minor injuries.
Razza said the crash and its cause remain under investigation. He said based on the preliminary investigation conducted at the scene, neither impairment nor distraction appear to have been factors, although speed may have been.
