Winsor Hill students, teachers encouraged to be their best selves

They were called everything from “terrific T’s” to “super shirts” and “creative coloring,” but they were all part of Winsor Hill Elementary School’s annual Be Your Best Self program.

“It’s always fun and is quite the process,” Dina Needham, a special education teacher at Winsor Hill, said. “The kids pick a colored T-shirt, then paint a special message on the front in conjunction with our Be Your Best Self program.”

So, after selecting their T-shirts and painting their personal slogans, all the students wore their colorful creations to school and showed them off during Healthy Kids Day last Friday.

“All the shirts had special qualities about them,” Needham said. “Second-graders in Kerri Yekelchik’s art enrichment class created the T-shirts with the always valuable help of art teacher Kim Marshall. They were all classics and each student was proud of his or her work.”

Needham was one of five people who helped with the production, alongside proud parents Lori La Terra Bellini and Manny Ferrara as well as faculty members Susan Parillo and Kerri Yekelchik.
