DUI

At 11:30 p.m., Jan. 17, Warwick Police were dispatched to the area of 7 Jefferson Boulevard to check on the condition of a motorist.

A caller told police there appeared to be a man passed out behind the wheel of a silver sedan at that location.

Warwick Police Officer Keara M. Enos found the car stopped in the middle of the intersection of Jefferson Boulevard and the on/off ramps for I-295 South.

The driver, later identified as Osvaldo W. Dias Almada, 37, of 125 Providence St., Apt. S10, West Warwick, allegedly began moving the car after Enos knocked on the driver’s side window. She ordered him to stop and he eventually complied.

Dias Almada was arrested and charged with DUI-Liquor (BAC results pending completion of blood alcohol test).

At 1:39 a.m., Jan. 18, Warwick Police Officer Nicholas P. Deluca was driving eastbound on Airport Road when he spotted a car allegedly drifting over the double centered line.

Deluca initiated a traffic stop and identified the driver as William D. Snead, 43, of 1010 Willett Ave., Apt. 5, East Providence.

Snead was arrested and charged with DUI-Liquor (BAC unknown, first offense). He also received citations for Refusal to Submit to a Chemical Test (first offense), Laned Roadway Violations and Obedience to Traffic Control Devices.

NO TRESPASS ORDER

At 8:19 a.m., Jan. 19, Warwick Police responded to Wendy’s, 650 Bald Hill Road, after receiving a call requesting the ejection of a man from the premises.

“The reporting party stated that a white male wearing an orange hat and a red jacket opened the drive thru window and tossed a used syringe into the kitchen,” Warwick Police Officer Evan E. Johnson wrote in the incident report. “The male was still on the property and was reportedly seated by the dumpster.”

Police located the man and identified him as Shayne E. Chandronnet, 45, homeless.

Management at Wendy’s told police that the business did not wish to make a complaint but wanted police to warn Chandronnet for trespassing.

Chandronnet was notified of the No Trespass Order and he told police he understood. He departed the property without further incident, according to police.

The syringe was retrieved and disposed of at the Warwick Police Station.

Warwick Police also had a run-in with Chandronnet at 2:26 a.m. that same day at Taco Bell, 877 Bald Hill Road. Police responded to the Taco Bell after receiving a report of a man throwing items at the fast food restaurant and “causing an active disturbance.”

Once again, management at the business told police they did not wish to file a criminal complaint, but wanted Chandronnet to receive a No Trespass Order from the establishment.

Chandronnet told police that he was “sorry” and that he had thrown a stick.

SHOPLIFTING

At 3:41 p.m., Jan. 20, Warwick Police officers traveled to the Johnston Police headquarters to take custody of Johnston man wanted by the Warwick Police Department for felony shoplifting.

Police identified the man as Richard William Baccaire, 43, of 35 Union Ave., Johnston.

Warwick Police had been looking for Baccaire since responding to Macy’s, 400 Bald Hill Road, at 1:18 p.m., Dec. 6, 2021.

A Macy’s loss prevention officer told police that a man fitting Baccaire’s description entered the store carrying a large reusable Job Lot bag, and wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and jeans, and had a tattoo on his right forearm.

“The male quickly selected four men’s long sleeve shirts before concealing them into his bag,” Warwick Police Officer Evan E. Johnson wrote in the police incident report. “The male then proceeded past all final points of sale without attempting to purchase the merchandise he concealed and exited through the northwest door. The subject then got into the drivers seat of a dark gray Toyota Camry with tinted windows and a tinted license plate cover.”

The car took off on Route 2 toward Cranston, according to police.

The total value of the four items was $180. Macy’s loss prevention told police they would like to file criminal charges.

Police shared images from video surveillance with other police agencies in an attempt to identify the suspect. On Jan. 5, a Johnston Police Detective contacted Warwick Police to identify the man as Baccaire.

Warwick Police had arrested Baccaire in 2015, and the department had photos on file.

Baccaire was charged with Shoplifting (value over $100, second offense), according to police.
