To the Editor:
My friend and colleague, Rep. Teresa Tanzi, recently shared a story with me that highlights the exceptional caliber of Warwick’s public safety professionals.
On Oct. 3, Rep. Tanzi and her husband were driving on West Shore Road when they witnessed a car accident involving a pedestrian. They pulled over and called 911. Rep. Tanzi was so impressed with the professionalism and dedication of the Warwick Fire and EMS personnel who responded.
In particular, Rep. Tanzi commended the caring response of Warwick EMS Capt. Andrew Sisson, who she said went above and beyond the call of duty in treating the accident victim with compassion and respect.
As a lifelong Warwick resident, I wasn’t surprised to hear this story. This is exactly the type of response Warwick’s public safety team shows every day. It’s why our city is a model for other departments across the state, and it’s a big part of what makes us so great.
The House of Representatives will present Capt. Sisson with a citation to recognize his exemplary service, but I thought the residents of Warwick should know about the outstanding work of our public safety personnel.
Rep. K. Joseph Shekarchi
District 23, Warwick
Speaker of the House
