It is encouraging that Hollywood opened at least one love story for Valentine's Day.
The Photograph stars two good-looking actors (Issa Rae and Lakeith Stanfield) as two young adults who meet and slowly – very slowly – fall in love. He is a journalist working on a story that involves her deceased mother. She is a museum curator who had been estranged by her mother. The movie occasionally retreats to her mother's past, involving a fisherman outside of New Orleans.
Romantics will enjoy the relationship between the two lovers as they come to terms with their own past, learn some secrets about themselves and others and come to love each other. Beautifully filmed with a nice score, I was still totally bored. (Joyce did not see this one.)
Rated PG-13, with some profanity and sexual encounters.
