The Park Theatre received a $10,000 grant Wednesday through the City of Cranston’s Take it Outside grant. The Take it Outside program is a statewide initiative to encourage and increase outdoor activities in an effort to reduce the transmission rate of Covid and support small businesses recovery. The funds give the theatre the ability to have vendor fairs outside the building while also making the exterior safer through installing security cameras.

Mayor Ken Hopkins and Deputy Chief of Staff Paul McAuley presented Ed Brady, co-owner of the Park Theatre and co-founder of Dig In Dining and Entertainment, with the check on Oct. 19. Hopkins said the Park Theatre and revitalization of Rolfe Square had been a dream for him and McAuley when they served on the City Council together. Hopkins congratulated Brady – wishing him the best of luck and saying how the theatre has become a cornerstone to the Rolfe Square area.

Brady thanked the city – saying that the money will go toward continuing to make Cranston better and safer; the funds keep the business going, so they can continue bringing people together. (Herald photo)
