To the Editor:
The intersection of Post Road and Airport Road had its usual heavy traffic last Monday when I drove by a cluster of demonstrators, near the IHOP, brandishing an “F--- Biden” banner.
We can only speculate how many primary school students in their parents’ cars also observed the banner, or an identical one I saw driving through the Warwick Vets rotunda the day before.
I don’t want to hear about the First Amendment, of which I am a firm advocate, but which does not give the unfettered right to say anything at all in the name of free speech. What I do expect is for our local authorities, starting with the mayor’s office, to pull up their bootstraps and take the appropriate steps to stop the smut. Regardless of age, all of us need to have a sense of decency and decorum reestablished on our streets.
