Swan Point Cemetery in Providence, announced the appointment of Cranston resident James Cotter to the position of Family Counselor, Proprietor Relations on July 1. Cotter is responsible for at need sales as well as building relationships with prospects and families in the local community to increase awareness of current and new offerings available at the cemetery; he also cultivates existing cemetery proprietor relations and manages all associated records.

Prior to his appointment at Swan Point, Cotter held several positions, including Associate with AFLAC in Cranston and Assistant Manager for General Transportation Services in North Kingstown. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from the University of Rhode Island.

Established in 1846, Swan Point Cemetery is a tranquil, meticulously maintained 200-acre garden cemetery located in the northeast corner of Providence. Extending from Blackstone Boulevard easterly to the Seekonk River, the cemetery’s extensive grounds make it one of the largest green spaces in the City of Providence. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, Swan Point is an active, full-service, nonsectarian cemetery with an array of available burial lots, including The Ellipse for green/natural burial, and features a community mausoleum, a crematory and columbaria, several chapels and reception facilities.
