Suzanne Conway, 85, passed away peacefully on January 26 at home, surrounded by her family.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late J. Joseph Egan Sr., and Louise (McCaffrey) Egan. She resided in Warwick for most of her life.

She was the beloved wife of the late Joseph M. Conway. She was a devoted mother to her nine children, nine grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. She eagerly awaited visits from her great-grandchildren who gave her much happiness.

Sue embraced her Irish heritage and was selfless and led a life of quiet integrity. We are so blessed to have had her for our mother and grandmother. Her legacy to her family is to persevere, always be honest, and draw strength from hard times. Her home since 1974 was her happy place.

Sue attended the Assumption School in Providence and graduated from St. Xavier Academy in 1955. After graduation, she worked for NE Telephone and Telegraph as an Operator. She later worked for Lying-In Hospital as a Telephone Operator. Sue began her state service in 1973 as a secretary in the Providence Welfare Office. She went on to become an Eligibility Technician for the Dept. of Social & Rehabilitative Services, and later at the Dept. of Elderly Affairs.

Sue is survived by her nine children, their spouses, and her grandchildren who never left her side in her final days.  Her children Donna Conway, Joseph Conway, Thomas and Patricia Conway, Kathleen and Ronald Mignanelli, John Conway, Michael and Ann Conway, Maryanne and Joseph Kelly, Kevin and Rita Conway, Suzanne and Robert Enright; and her grandchildren Jennifer Conway (Michael), Kristyn Bourne (Andrew), Ronald Mignanelli, Jr., Joseph Conway (Kacie), Donna Schneider (Alex), Tayla May (Aaron), Caitlin Conway, Christa Conway, and Kevin Conway all loved her very much.

Her great grandchildren, Logan, Cillian and Lucy frequently popped in to say, “Hi Nana!” Sue was also “Nana” to her beloved, special friends, Lexi and Junie.

Sue is also survived by her brother, James Egan. She is pre-deceased by her brothers and sisters, John J. Egan Jr., Louise Murray, Henry Egan, and Maryanne Pryor.

The Conway family thanks HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care for their care and support. Sue’s final days were peaceful and her family was comforted by their caring and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to HopeHealth Hospice & Palliative Care.
