“Big heart and determination”

Millie Santilli, author of “Lila Lu and the things I love to do,” a book about Noonan’s Syndrome, has just released her new book called “Ava’s Wish.”

This book is about Ava, a little girl with a big heart and determination to bring healthy snacks to children in family shelters. This undertaking started when Ava was 6 years old, using her own piggy bank money to purchase her first items. Ava, now 8½, has continued her mission and raises money by baking and selling cookies, and cupcakes for the holidays. On her eighth birthday this past January, Ava expanded her donation list to include hats, gloves, scarves and blankets for her mission instead of birthday gifts.

Millie said, “Ava not only received money, but also a large box filled with handmade hats, gloves, scarves and blankets, donated by her Vouva’s church knitting group.”

Ava proudly took the donations and brought them to the shelter for the holidays. Millie said the families were touched with Ava’s kindness.

“Ava said she hopes the children she has helped will think about helping others in need one day.”

Millie is Ava’s Mimi. Millie’s wrote this book because she was inspired by Ava’s kind and giving heart and wanted other s to know how very proud she is of her granddaughter. Ava is a shining example of how small gestures of kindness can make such a difference in someone else’s life.

“Ava’s Wish” can be purchased online at Amazon.com, or for an autographed copy contact Millie at 401 949-0617. A portion of the proceeds from this book will allow Ava to continue with her mission work to help children. Millie says, “Children are our future; it’s up to all of us to be the examples they look up too!” Ava is certainly one of those examples.
