The first of two sanitation trucks the city found for sale in Ohio arrived here Wednesday to the delight of Mayor Frank Picozzi and the department of public works that have been faced with an aging fleet of 15 trucks. Yesterday only eight of the trucks were on the road collecting trash and recyclables, causing delays in pickups and overtime. The city has made collecting trash a priority, meaning that on some occasions recyclable collections have been delayed for as much as a week. In addition to these trucks - the one pictured with the mayor cost $279,600 – the city has 3 new ones on order that should be delivered by the end of the year. Eric Earls, DPW director said that this truck, a 2020, is the newest in the fleet “until the 2021 comes in.” The second truck is expected to be here this week.
