Unlike some municipalities where the governor and state leaders participated in a media distribution event, Warwick Mayor Frank Picozzi chose last week to put out the word free rapid at home Covid tests would be available at the Warwick Central Library and the Pilgrim Senior Center. His intent is to target elderly and school groups. The Federal Emergency Management Agency and RI Emergency Management provided the tests at no cost to the city. In total 13,500 double test kits were given to the city. The library was the busiest of the sites. Here Ellen O’Brien, library assistant director displays the contents of a kit from a distribution table. She said more than 8,000 of the 9,000 tests given the library had been distributed as of Wednesday. (Warwick Beacon photo)
