Cdr. Dave Burkett Captain of the Guided Missile Destroyer USS The Sullivans was recently greeted by Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and Admiral Tony Radakin, First Sea Lord and Chief of the Royal Navy after pulling into Portsmouth, England. The destroyer will participate in the HMS Queen Elizabeth II carrier strike group that will travel from the North Atlantic Ocean, to the Mediterranean Sea and through the Suez Canal to the Indian Ocean before arriving in the Indo-Pacific region. Cdr. Burkett is married to Allyson (DePetrillo) Burkett, the daughter of Paul and LuAnne DePetrillo of Warwick. The couple first met when Burkett was stationed in Newport and then again four years later when he was teaching at the War College. They are the parents of a son, Benjamin, age 6 and daughter, Brooke, age 4. Upon completion of this deployment Burkett will head to the Pentagon for his next duty station. That will put the family closer to Rhode Island, which delights Paul DePetrillo. (Photo courtesy of Paul DePetrillo)

Queen, Burkett
