Christine Bannon-Rodrigues of Warwick and Alan D’Allessandro of Shrewsbury, MA  received their 10thDegree Black Belts at the Grand Master Black Belt Extravaganza presented Oki-Ryu Martial Arts Association held Sunday at the Crowne Plaza. The event featured the Black belt elevations with performances from each of those advancing from students at the Don Rodrigues Karate Academy, Newport Martial Arts and the New England Karate Academy before an audience of more than 150.  Christine, 55, has been training for 41 years. She teaches Kempo, Kickboxing, Kray Maga and Wushu and is co-owner of the Don Rodrigues Karate Academy in Warwick.  She is a nine time world champion in forms, fighting and weapons and works as a stunt woman on movies and TV shows. D’Allessandro, 63, has been training for more than 37 years. He is the co-owner and chief instructor at New England Karate Academy in Shrewsbury. Joining them, at left, is Gary Jarvis of Warwick who received his 6th Degree Black Belt at the event.  Don Rodrigues was master of ceremonies and pictured in a routine prior to the confirmation of a 2nd Degree Black Belt is Robin Cosgrove, 29, a student at URI.
