Church Avenue resident Robert Baggesen has no other explanation than the tremor that gently rocked some portions on the state on Sept. 1 for the hole that suddenly appeared in his backyard. Baggesen said he had some yard work done the previous day and there was no sign of a depression in his lawn. He discounted the possibility that a former cesspool collapsed, leaving the hole, as there would have been a cesspool cover and there wasn’t one. (Warwick Beacon photo)
