Mayor Frank Picozzi held his second fundraiser since winning election at Chelo’s last Thursday, raising more than $20,000. Picozzi was delighted to have former Warwick Mayor and Governor Philip Noel attend as Noel had plenty of tales to tell from his many years in elective office. Although Picozzi is an independent there was good representation from the city’s state Democratic legislators including House Speaker K. Joseph Shekarchi and Senate Majority Leader Michael McCaffrey. City Council President Steve McAllister and members of the council were in attendance as well as a smattering of Republicans including former Cranston Mayor Allan Fung and his wife Rep. Barbara Ann Fenton and Cranston Mayor Ken Hopkins. One thing Picozzi said he learned from the event is not to have them so long. Most attendees showed up shortly after 5 p.m. and then there were some who lingered to 8. Here the mayor talks with North Providence Mayor Charles Lombardi. (Warwick Beacon photo)
