Buddy Walk boosts Down Syndrome Society

MAKING THE ROUNDS: Vincenzo Feole, an 8-year-old boy from Cranston with Down syndrome, took part in the Buddy Walk with his father, Steve Feole.

WITH LOVE: The Buddy Walk for the Down Syndrome Society of RI was held Sunday. Vincenzo Feole, a Cranston resident with Down syndrome, was joined for a photo with both of his grandmothers, Silvana Porreca and Gwen Feole.

BEST FRIENDS: Vincenzo Feole was happy to see his good friend Celia Furtado, 11, at the Buddy Walk. As soon as they saw one another, they ran for a hug.

A special Buddy Walk to support the Down Syndrome Society of RI was held Sunday. The event was held virtually, with Vincenzo’s Buddies, who walked in support of Cranston resident Vincenzo Feole, 8, present at Cranston High School West. More than 50 people participated in the event, raising more than $10,000. All the money raised for the Buddy Walk is used entirely for community programs and to spread awareness. Also, this year, DSSRI awarded its first annual Self Advancement scholarship. (Herald photos by Steve Popiel)
