Friends, family and supporters gathered for an afternoon of camaraderie and book signing Nov. 6 at the Radisson Hotel to benefit the Books of Pinoy Foundation and its goal to raise $250,000 to build a library in Tambis Palompon on the island of Leyte in the Philippines. Billy Alisch made headlines when at the age of 15 he collected more than 10,000 books to help stock libraries in the Philippines. His brother, Joseph Steven Ritualo Alisch, a graduate of Providence College and a student at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School is President and founder of Books for Pinoy Foundation. At the event, Billy and Joey’s mother Alma Ritualo Alisch signed copies of her book “A Mother’s Blessing, Family Comes First” and Billy was present for the launch of his book “Billy and his Dad.” The event raised about $5,000. Pictured at the Radisson gathered around Billy Alisch are his brother Joey, mother Alma and Mary Palombo who taught Billy as a teacher eight years ago when he was a student at Lippitt School.
