The Eighth Annual Holiday Charity Blackjack Tournament at Bally’s Twin River Lincoln Casino Resort was held Dec. 8 with $60,000 being donated to charities. Thirty-six players participated on behalf of their selected Rhode Island charity.  All charities received a minimum $1,000.  To date, approximately $450,000 has been given to local charities from this festive holiday event. Warwick legislator and Speaker of the House, K. Joseph Shekarchi, at right, is seen here at the table of champions. He and others playing at the table had the greatest number of chips after playing five hands at one of six tables. Shekarchi finished third among the champions winning $5,000 for the recently formed Go Fetch Rescue. Bob Billington playing for the Blackstone Valley Heritage & Environmental Trust Fund placed first, bringing the trust fund $10,000. (Warwick Beacon photo)
